JELC announces UK greetings card partner and expansion plans for award-winning brand
Independent UK-based licensing agency JELC, which represents the award-winning greetings card and gift range The Wisdom of Kids has announced an agreement with Gemma International Ltd, the UK Number 1 in licensed greetings. The agreement will bring this fast-growing humour-based design brand to specialist card retail outlets, as well as stores and supermarkets across the country, from Spring/Summer 2015. The range will include stand alone designs along with occasion and relation cards appealing to females and males.
JELC is managing an international licensing programme for The Wisdom of Kids that will leverage the enormous potential of the brand, first in greetings cards and then in stationery, gifts, apparel, electronics, home-wares, household textiles and more.
Combining the hilarious insights of the under-tens on burning adult issues such as love, ageing and marriage with witty, understated lettering and illustration, The Wisdom of Kids has been snapped up by licensed card publishers around the world and has performed exceptionally well in online gift retail. It has also gained celebrity fans, numerous awards and a devoted global customer base, whose many members will warmly welcome the expansion of the brand into a number of new formats, categories and outlets.
Soula Zavacopoulos, owner of The London Studio and creator of The Wisdom of Kids, has been widely recognised both as a creative talent and businesswoman and has been featured in The Times, The Guardian, The London Evening Standard and The Independent on Sunday.
Caroline Weaver, Head of Product and Marketing at Gemma, says: “It’s no surprise to us that awareness of The Wisdom of Kids has grown so quickly in the short time since its introduction. The Wisdom of Kids stands out as a property for its unique design and its infectious humour — both of which make it a perfect addition to our range.”
Jane Evans, Joint Managing Director JELC, says: “Licensee interest in the Wisdom of Kids has been strong for some time as consumer demand for this charming and hilarious brand grows. We’re delighted that Gemma, a globally respected name in greetings cards, is to license the brand and we are already fielding enquiries from licensees in many more categories.”
